Kevin Perkins

Kevin Perkins (b. 1987) lives and works in Dallas, Texas. Born in Louisiana, he holds a BFA in communication design from Louisiana Tech University and is self taught as a painter, having started when he was hired to teach the subject. He works in acrylic, charcoal, Conté crayon and pastel on paper and raw canvas, and also in sculpture and printmaking. The paintings are free for all brawls, dense and crowded, and they began in 2015 with the Hellenistic reliefs of the Pergamon Altar. Comics came later, a modern mythology doing the same work as the Greek fighting figures, and what he takes from them is that it is never clear who the bad guys are. Each figure stands for a part of the ego trying to be the last one standing.

His work has been shown with Marcia Wood Gallery in Atlanta, Delphian Gallery in London, Allison K Bellinger in Inverell and Curatorial & Co in Sydney. Alongside his practice, he has taught art in the Dallas public school system for more than ten years.

Perkins has worked with Plan X since 2023, when the gallery presented The Anatomy of Conflict at Plan X Capri, followed by a presentation of his work at Art Dubai in 2024.
