PERCEPTION
Perception is a hybrid body of work by ThankYouX that combines painting and embedded digital animation to explore the way an image is shaped by distance, obstruction, and point of view.
Throughout the series, what we see is never presented as fixed or complete, but as something altered by interruption, framing, and proximity. Neutral blocks cut across the painted surface, partially covering areas of color and form. Rather than simply hiding the image, these interventions help clarify it, removing excess and sharpening the relationship between what is visible and what is withheld. The result is a visual language built on tension between concealment and revelation.
Each work includes an integrated digital screen that sets the composition into motion, adding a temporal dimension to the act of looking. The animation introduces a quiet but continuous sense of change, reinforcing the idea that perception is never fixed. The digital element also allows the work to remain open over time. The animated component may be revisited in dialogue with the collector, allowing the work to evolve while preserving the integrity of the original composition.

ThankYouX, a painter from Los Angeles, California, began his artistic career in 2009. Starting as an acclaimed yet anonymous street artist, over the last fifteen years, his work has evolved into experimentation with geometric forms and layered abstraction that is now internationally recognized.
As an enthusiastic proponent of emerging technology, ThankYouX expanded his artistic practice in 2020, when he started exploring and creating digital blockchain-based artwork. He quickly became one of the leaders in the space, bridging the gap between traditional art and Web 3.0.
Notable moments include his solo show ‘Inertia’ at Sotheby’s gallery in LA, a collaboration with Hans Zimmer, inclusion of his work in institutions like the The Museum of the Future in Dubai and The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, partnerships with major auction houses as both an artist and curator, and his groundbreaking solo project, “State Of The Art” which blends digital and physical art in ways that push both mediums forward.
