Julien Boudet (b. 1985, Sète, France), who works as Bleu Mode, lives between Paris and New York. He attended Parsons School of Design in New York in 2013 and came to art from street style photography, shooting at fashion weeks before turning to still life, sculpture and installation. He shoots on medium format film and builds work around logos: Lacoste, Nike TN, Asics, Reebok, the nineties sportswear of a Mediterranean youth, treated with the care usually reserved for luxury. What holds it together is the line between real and fake, the bootleg as the natural product of hyper consumption, and the strange intimacy of our attachment to objects.
His first solo exhibition, Tout est bleu, opened in 2021 and marked his move from photography into sculpture and installation. Solo exhibitions have followed at Stems Gallery in Brussels and Paris, at Ground Effect and Le Mur du Marais in Paris, and Acte II at Paris Photo in 2023. His work has been included in group exhibitions at Arsenal Contemporary in New York, Blum & Poe in Los Angeles, WOAW Gallery in Hong Kong, Volery Gallery in Dubai and Fashion Space Gallery in London, and he has staged installations at Burberry flagship stores in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, at Citadium in Paris and at la Chapelle du Quartier Haut in Sète. He is regularly published in Vogue, i-D, Numéro, Hypebeast and Highsnobiety.
In 2022 Plan X presented his solo exhibition GO!!!!!!! in Milan.
