Filippo A. L. Cegani (b. 1993, Italy) studied at Camberwell College of Arts in London. His recent paintings take on the commodification of Christian religious imagery in a post digital age: holy cards, devotional statues and votive objects painted hyper real and very close up, glossy and crisp, holding pain and ecstasy in the same image. The earlier work turned on armour and fetish gear, objects that mask a body and protect it at once, and that interest in surfaces that both conceal and display has stayed.
Solo and two person exhibitions include You Either Cry Here or There at Enari Gallery, Amsterdam (2024), Be The Holy at Galerie Pact, Paris, and Ecstasy Protocol at Swivel Gallery, New York. Group exhibitions include Chromatic, Dynamic… Stress! at Galería Fran Reus, Palma, Bite the Hand at Grove Gallery, London, Fever Dream at Swivel Gallery, New York, and Material Girl at Enari Gallery (2026). His work has been covered by Art Viewer.
Cegani took part in the group exhibition Hyper-Reality at Plan X Capri in 2023, and Plan X presented his two person exhibition with Riccardo di Caro, The Sacred Enters Where It Is Allowed, in Milan.
